Vancouver’s Greenest City 2020 Action Plan, with the goal to make Vancouver the greenest city in the world by 2020, was approved by Council in 2011.
The Greenest City Action Plan addresses three overarching areas of focus: carbon, waste and ecosystem. It is divided into 10 smaller actions each with a long-term (2050) goal and medium-term (2020) targets. They are: green economy, climate leadership, green buildings, green transportation, zero waste, access to nature, lighter footprint, clean water, clean air and local food.
